Tightening supply in Apple iPhone 5 components could provide better margins for RIM, but Apple and Google Android smartphones are still positioned to do well in the long-run, McKechnie said.
But don’t expect the bounce to last, he added.
“I think things are going to get quite tough for them next year. The make-or-break is going to be the upgrade cycle for BlackBerry 10,” McKechnie said. “You’re going to have a tough time stealing an Apple subscriber or a Samsung, Google subscriber with a BlackBerry 10 product.”
